FSC/COC

FSC / COC (Forest Stewardship Council), Forest Stewardship Council, is a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization dedicated to forest management that contributes to global social responsibility. It was established in 1993 and is sponsored by some international NGOs, environmentalists, timber trade organizations and socially responsible consumers who wish to stop the devastating destruction of forests. FSC tracks the entire process of wood products from forest to consumer through the establishment of standards for well-managed forests and timber production and marketing regulations that control the legal and sustainable sources of wood.

FSC Introduction
1) FSC is an accredited certification body of international organizations, a certification body to ensure the authenticity of the certification. A non-profit organization founded in Toronto, Canada, in 1993. At the inaugural meeting 130 delegates from 25 countries and other broadly represented organizations (eg forest workers organizations, social and indigenous organizations, timber industry and national environmental organizations) attended the meeting. FSC is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization. Anyone interested in forests and their forest products and recognizing the goals of the FSC can become a member of the organization. Members include various business organizations, environmental groups and social and human rights organizations. Headquartered in Oaxaca, Mexico, FSC is currently relocated to BONN, Germany. Its top decision-making body, the General Assembly, is divided into three equally important committees. The FSC mission aims to promote forest management activities that are environmentally responsible, socially beneficial and economically viable and that promote voluntary, independent and third-party certification as the primary means of achieving these goals. Each country's certification is based on 10 common criteria and forest assessment criteria, which mainly include social, environmental and economic factors on the basis of which the forestry management and evaluators certify. The FSC Forest Certification process requires that 10 guidelines and standards be adapted to each country's standards. In order to ensure that the guidelines and standards are appropriate to reflect the situation at all levels, there should be a broad spectrum of representatives from all sectors to discuss the adaptability of the guidelines and standards.
As a large organization, FSC itself does not carry out certification work. Its main task is to assess, authorize and monitor the certification body. Certifiers are specifically committed to accepting the FSC's goals and guidelines and to reflecting these goals and guidelines in their certification efforts. A total of 19 organizations worldwide are mandated to implement FSC certification, seven of which operate in China.
The FSC issues a certificate to the forestry unit after an independent audit based on principles and standards and at least every 12 months thereafter, if it finds that the forestry or forestry unit is not properly managed or fails to comply with the relevant regulations to certify the forest unit Improper move, you can withdraw the certification in time.
The purchase of FSC-certified wood products avoids the purchase of products derived from Pinaceae species or illegal logging, assuring consumers that the products come from forests that meet the social, economic and ecological needs of present and future generations, Peace support. More than 100 million hectares of forests are now FSC certified in 79 countries around the world.
In any case, the certification process is initiated voluntarily by forest owners and operators, who only require the certification body to provide the relevant services. The goal of the FSC is to promote global forest management activities that are environmentally responsible, socially beneficial and economically viable through the development of a broad range of human-friendly standards and associated forest management principles worldwide.
FSC principles and standards apply to all tropical, temperate and boreal forests. Many of the principles of the monthly standard also applies to plantations and partially planted forests. More detailed standards applicable to all types of forest cover can be drafted at national and regional levels. The FSC principles and standards should be incorporated into the auditing systems and standards of all organizations seeking FSC recognition. Although the FSC principles and standards are mainly for the forest management of wood products production. But to a large extent can also be applied to forest management for the production of non-wood forest products and other services.
Principles and standards as a whole, there is no primary or secondary points.
FSC and its accredited certification bodies do not necessarily seek to fully comply with its principles and standards, but if there is a material discrepancy in any of the principles, FSC and its accredited certification bodies are usually considered unqualified or have their licenses revoked. This requires an independent certification body to make judgments based on the degree of satisfaction and the magnitude of each of the standards and their consequences, allowing for some flexibility in the light of local conditions.

importance
In all certification audit process must take into account the scale and intensity of forest management operations, the uniqueness of the affected resources and the ecological vulnerability of the forest. The forest management standards of different countries and regions will point out the differences and difficulties in the interpretation of FSC principles and standards. These standards will be formulated with the participation of all countries and regions. The certification bodies and other involved and affected parties will carry out certification audits on a case-by-case basis. If necessary, FSC's dispute settlement mechanism also advocates the adoption of this approach during the audit. The use of FSC principles and standards must be in line with national and international legal systems and the FSC is intended to supplement rather than replace other initiatives that support globally responsible forest management.
